Sunrise Park, Vancouver - The Railtown Spikers got out to an early five-run lead and held on for a 10-8 victory over the Little Mountain Blasters on Sunday, in what was the inaugural game for the expansion Blasters. Kyle Bryan earned the win for the Spikers, allowing no runs on one hit and striking out eight over three innings.

The Spikers got their offense started in the first inning, when Bryan tripled on a 0-2 count, knocking in two runs on their way to putting up four runs. The Blasters scored five runs in the fourth to tie the game, but the Spikers answered with five in the bottom half of the inning to pull ahead for good led by Gary Tse’s single, scoring two runs and Kyle Bryan’s double, scoring one more.

Cam Charron took the loss for the Little Mountain Blasters. He lasted three innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out two and walking one. Little Mountain Blasters bats were led by Brian Burpee, Scott Nugent, and Travis Miguez, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

A number of pitchers entered the game in relief for the Spikers, with Eric Rasmusson, Grant Nickel, and Nate Morris all pitching an inning. Sean Hamilton recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Railtown Spikers.

The Spikers tallied 11 hits in the game with Grant Nickel, Kyle Bryan, Nate Morris, and Gary Tse each collecting two hits. Little Mountain collected eight hits. Brian Burpee and Justin Forkheim each had multiple hits for the Blasters.
